What To Say To The Product-Driven Prospect

Category : Prospecting

I was talking to Michael Dlouhy the other day, and asked him how he handles people who only want to be in company with the greatest product since sliced bread.

Here’s his answer:

If you’ve been in network marketing very long, you’ve run into plenty of prospects who are totally focused on ONLY joining a company where they can sell a product they love.

I tell them, “Look. We have 30 products. You don’t have to use them all. You don’t even have to like them all. Matter of fact, we have a Woman’s Formula that helps balance out the hormones. Guess what? I don’t use the product. I don’t use that one. My wife does. She loves it. We’ve got hundreds of women who buy that product. They love it. I don’t have to use it.”

And That Makes Them Realize How Stupid It Is -

- that they have to love the product. Right there. And if it’s a woman – guess what?¬ Our company¬ has a Men’s Formula! It’s for the prostate.

And last time you checked, you didn’t have a prostate, because you’re a girl. But guess what? I’ve got a lot of guys that buy that product.

Another one I’ll talk about is our product that helps balance blood-sugar. I ask them, “Do you know anyone who has hypoglycemia, diabetes, low blood sugar, a sugar problem?”

“Yeah.”

“Great. Do you think that person would like to know about a product that’s all-natural, it’s been proven to help re-build the pancreas, and¬ will help them to use less insulin, and maybe even get them off of insulin?”

“Oh, yeah!”

You Don’t Have To Have Diabetes To Sell the Product, Do You?

Make it so ridiculous, they get it. I’m telling you, this is magic. People will come to you and they’re totally focused on finding a product that THEY love.

But that is NOT the way to build a long-term, successful, profitable business. When I hear that, I’ll tell them, “Well, then, go get diabetes. Go get diabetes, and this stuff will help you fix it. OK?

And of course, they laugh. It’s a ridiculous solution. But it makes them realize that the attitude that they MUST love the product is also ridiculous.

To get them into your company, tell them why YOU joined. Why did you join this company, this team, this sponsor.

I did a call the other day with a lady who is married to a heart surgeon. If I told you what they have to pay in insurance for him to stay in that business, it would blow your mind. Basically, he’s working for the insurance company.

So they need another income. They have to get something going. The first thing she said was, “Well, I’ll have to try the products first to see if I like them.”

And I went right into the Women’s Formula. I went right into diabetes. And I asked her,

“Do you have diabetes?”

She said, “No.”

I told her, “Well, you don’t have to go and get diabetes to sell a bunch of this product.”

And she got it. She joined on the spot. She figured she’d just try the product but instead, she got the idea. Now she’s in the business.

Do I ask people to join? Do I push them? Do I twist their arm? Do I say, “Get in now and you’ll be rich by Tuesday?”

No. I present the case for my company & our team. The prospect makes their own decision. Mostly, they ASK if they can join. It comes from THEM. How could anything be more powerful?

Sometimes you just have to make them beg.

If only our prospects understood “Jungle Law.”

Category : Skills

Another great lesson from Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter!

What is the “Law of the Jungle?”

*** He who hesitates is … lunch. ***

Yes, it is a jungle out there. Everyone is just trying to survive.

But what happens if your prospect says, “I want to think it over, I can’t make up my mind, no use just jumping into things, I have to talk it over with my dog …”

Well, your prospect becomes lunch!

Your prospect is eaten alive by his employer who gradually takes his life away. Your prospect jealously looks on as others who went into action immediately succeed.

Winners in life don’t wait. It is hard to win a race when everyone else has started and we are still considering if we should start.

I guess we can use this “Jungle Law” in our careers also. Maybe we can be the first to take part in our company’s promotions, registering for conventions, doing our required volume, etc.

Sound advice!!

It’s Easier to Build Leaders When You Have Volunteers

Category : Leaders

Some great advice from Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter:

It’s easier to build leaders when you have volunteers.

When you sponsor new distributors, they will have their own reasons for joining network marketing.

Some distributors will want to simply purchase their own products at wholesale prices.

Some distributors may wish to retail some products for extra money.

Some distributors will sponsor other people and build a nice part-time income.

And finally, some distributors will want to become a leader like you.

Of course you will want to service all your distributors and give them the help they need to reach their goals. However, in which group of distributors should you invest your extra time and energy to develop new leaders?

It’s obvious. The group that wants to become a leader like you.

But how big is that special group? Probably pretty small — unless you’ve sponsored a lot of new distributors. That’s why consistent sponsoring is necessary. It brings a constant flow of new potential leaders into your group.

Look at it this way. Imagine that you wanted to get married and went searching for a potential spouse. What if you were limited to only one candidate?

Wouldn’t you rather have several candidates to choose from? In fact, you would want as many candidates as possible!

It’s the same when searching for potential leaders. You’ll want a large pool of candidates among your distributors. If you only have one distributor to choose from, you’d better hope that distributor wants to be a leader.

So follow the lead of the top network marketing leaders. Consistently sponsor new distributors and you won’t have to worry about where to find your next leader.

Multiple Streams of Income or Outgo?

Category : 5 Pillars of Success, Focus

There’s a lot of talk out there in Network Marketing land about Multiple Streams of Income, i.e. joining more than one company and building them all so that if one fails, the other one will pick up the slack. In theory the idea sounds good. In reality, it just doesn’t work.

Michael Dlouhy, the author of Success in 10 Steps says,

The vast majority of network marketers who get convinced of the brilliance of the idea that they need multiple streams of income wind up instead with multiple streams of outgo!
When you promote a smorgasbord of opportunities, you undermine your network.

When you try to appeal to everybody with your multiple streams of products & services, smart people will not take you seriously. And why should they? You have no identity in their mind.
Result?

No trust. No loyalty. No network. Your people are easy targets for some narrowly focused networker.

You waste time & money searching for more opportunities to create your multiple streams. But loss of focus = loss of power.

You ruin your quality perception, because, to consumers, specializing = quality.

Think about your credibility. If you have to work 2 or 3 businesses, your prospects will think that none of them are enough. And they get turned off with by the fact that they don’t know whether they can build 1 business, let alone 2 or 3!!

You see, unconsciously, you’re sending signals to your prospects by every action you take. Your prospect is constantly evaluating what you do, to see if they can do the same thing. So by trying to build multiple businesses, what exactly are you telling your prospects?

To quote Michael again,

Given your skills, your knowledge, your time, your resources … and most of all, your results so far … are you better off focusing on one big profit center? Or are you better off sifting through (and spending money promoting) a ton of affiliate programs to find a few that work well? Only YOU can answer that question.

I also think there’s confusion as to what Multiple Streams of Income means. I believe it ties in with the word, Diversification. Like when you’re investing in the stock market, you want to diversify your investments.

In order to diversify your investments, you invest in different sectors like Energy, Technology, Industrials, Basic Materials or Telecommunications. When one sector is doing bad, the others pick up the slack.

In our example of joining 2 or 3 Network Marketing companies, it would be like investing everything in one sector, but just with different companies. That is not diversification. That’s putting all your eggs in one basket. That’s a recipe for disaster!

If you want multiple streams of income, build a Network Marketing Business, along with investing in Stocks and Bonds, along with investing in Real Estate. AKA Different Sectors. THAT will give you true Diversification and Multiple Streams of Income.

So let’s go back to Network Marketing. You’re far better off doing your research and picking a good 5-Pillar Company and focusing all your efforts in building that. To learn how to ask the right questions and more about what makes up a 5-Pillar Company, start with Michael Dlouhy’s eBook Success in 10 Steps. Most people that read the eBook, save themselves years of failure and frustration. I know it will for you too.

I Cried So Hard I Couldn’t Drive!

Category : Breakthrough, Responsibility, Service, Value

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about why I use Mentoring for Free, so I thought I’d take a few minutes and share my reasons.

When I started with Mentoring For Free, I thought I knew what it was all about. But there’s a big difference between knowing and “KNOWING”. Let me explain.

I’ve been following the system or “recipe” as outlined by my Mentor Emmanuel Padilla to generate leads and calling them, plugging them into the system, Scheduling Coaching Calls, etc.

Works beautifully.

Well, a strange thing happened a few months ago. I received a “Why” from a young lady. It was beautiful. Heartfelt. Sincere. And all of a sudden I was crying. I was out at the time and I cried the whole drive home. I’m surprised that I didn’t get into an accident. I could barely see.

I didn’t necessarily cry over what she wrote, I cried because I realized that these aren’t “Leads” or “Prospects”, they’re living, breathing People with hopes and dreams and goals and desires. And they’re trusting ME to help them. They’re sharing deep personal feelings with me. I am humbled to say the least.

And then it hit me. What an awesome responsibility that we have to these people! This is not a game. Mentoring For Free is not just a lead generating system. It’s not just training. It’s a way to serve. It’s a way to connect with people on a different level. I mean, you can even say it’s a salvation. At least for some people it is.

What’s so exciting about this, is the fact that once it “hit me” everything changed. It’s no longer about getting leads. It’s about giving and sharing what I know, what we know, to help another human being fulfill their dreams. What could be better than that? The feeling I get when someone has success with a technique I’ve shown them or even the feeling of hope that arises when a person realizes there is someone out there willing to take the time to help them. It’s amazing!

What’s funny, is it seems like the Universe has noticed and said “He finally gets it” and I have more people coming to me asking for help than I did before. It’s like the universe said “He’s ready, let’s give him some people to help.”

I mean, I’ve changed nothing in my actions. I do the same things I did from the beginning. And people are “showing up” asking for help.

I don’t know how I can ever express my gratitude to Michael Dlouhy for developing Mentoring For Free and sharing it with the world. I’m only touched by a small part of it within my own circle of influence. I can’t begin to imagine how he must feel, helping as many people as he does. How does his heart not burst from the joy?

So I want to send a public thank you to Michael Dlouhy from the bottom of my heart for allowing me the opportunity to “get it”. My life has forever been changed for the better.

Why Your Up-line Can Sponsor and You Can’t!

Category : Prospecting

Hello Network Marketing Leaders!

How important is it to think like a prospect?

ALL of your really successful Up-line realize that it’s the main difference between doing your business as a hobby, and doing your business for a living.

My mentor, Tom “Big Al” Schreiter, has traveled the world promoting his MLM business. He’s discovered what prospects consider most important in deciding on a company.

Rate these items yourself, from 1 to 10, most important to least important.

I strongly encourage you to REALLY do this exercise. It will take maybe 5 minutes. Then, I’ll give you the REAL answers from prospects around the world.

And if you discover THEIR thinking is radically different from YOUR thinking … well, that could explain a lot!

One more thing: #1 in this poll won by a LANDSLIDE. It wasn’t even close. So it should be real easy for YOU to get #1 right.

Right?

OK. Let’s do it!

Get your pen. Here’s the list:

Company literature shown
Marketing plan and potential earnings
Training provided
Who gave the presentation
Product line
Company management experience
Up-line support
Company image
Sales kit provided
Being first in your area

Now just list those down from 1 to 10, most important to least important, from the prospect’s point of view.

Do it now.

The key question is, “Are you thinking like a prospect?

Find out the REAL answers from prospects around the world on Page 59 of our FREE eBook “Success in 10 Steps”

You can get your very own copy here: Success in 10 Steps

After you read the answers and learn what all the successful Network Marketers already know, give me a call and let’s discuss how we can help you join them in their success.

Or, you can do what you’re currently doing, and get the same results you’ve always got.

The choice is yours!

How Real People Become Millionaires

Category : Fundamentals, Prospect Questions

I was talking to my friend and Mentor, Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter the other day, and our conversation turned to overcoming the “I’m broke” scenario.

I said to him, “Tom, I’m constantly talking to prospects who are broke and say things like, ‘I can’t afford a distributor kit. I can’t afford your opportunity. I want to become a millionaire. So how do I get started?’, what should I tell them?”

Tom, who always seems to find the simplest way to explain things, said this, “Tell them,

First, become a “hundred-aire.” Second, become a “thousand-aire.” Third, THEN become a “million-aire.”

You see, if the prospect can’t learn how to accumulate $100 after years of working, how will the prospect ever have the discipline to accumulate even one thousand dollars?

It’s easier for most people to eat out at restaurants, play video games, smoke cigarettes, drink beer, buy non-necessities that are on sale, buy a new car on payments, etc. — than it is to save $100.

Until that pattern is broken, even the best network marketing opportunity won’t solve their problems.”

Great advice! So if your prospect really wants to do something about their situation, start by helping them adjust their spending priorities. If they are not willing to let you help them get their finances in order, your opportunity won’t help either.

How To Handle Some Tough Prospect Questions

Category : Prospect Questions

Several people have asked questions recently, and I’d like to answer them here.

Question #1: “How much money did you make in your business?”

So I do coach people on how to answer questions like this. And your response to this question should always be, “I don’t have a clue. I haven’t finished collecting it all yet.”

See, you never know how much of an ongoing ripple effect you’ll get from what you did yesterday and the day before. How can you know how much money you’re going to make when you sponsor somebody into your business?

Today, you’re making $5 a week. Next month, You’re making $50 a week. And the following month, you’re making $500 a week – all from the business-building efforts of that one person you signed up today.

Visit JimRohn.com Today!

MLM is a business that will pay you a lot next year, and 5 years from now, and 20 years from now – for work you did today. The person asking you this question does not understand the amazing phenomena of getting paid every week for work you did 10 years ago.

Question #2: You’ve just started in network marketing and the person asks, “If this company you’re promoting is so great, then why aren’t you making any money from it?”

Again, this question comes from a person who does not understand or believe in network marketing. And so here you are, in the impossible position of trying to convince this person.

Building any business takes some time to build a network of customers buying your products. Someone says, “Well, a couple years ago, this guy online sold $1 million of a product the first day he offered it.”

And that’s true. But what you lose sight of is that his “opening day” was in the planning stages for many months, as he lined up dozens and dozens of internet marketers – each of whom had a list of thousands of subscribers – to promote his product.

If you trace that “$1 Million Day” to its origin, it goes back many years, to when all these component lists were being built.

Is it possible to make a profit immediately, from your first day? Sure. But you get the greatest network marketing rewards by training others to move your products – a result which will show up big in future paychecks.

Question #3: “Someone likes my company, but would rather join under a Heavy Hitter who knows what they’re doing. How should I respond?”

The problem with joining under a Heavy Hitter is, most of them don’t have time to talk to you. They don’t have time to help you build your business. Many of them – you’d be astonished to learn just how many – were actually GIVEN most of their organization by the company, to “prove” how big a person can build. And many Heavy Hitters are hard-core salespersons. They do stuff you & I could never do in our wildest dreams (and still sleep at night!).

Heavy Hitters are not into hand-holding. When you sign up with them, they expect you to get to work and build. If you don’t, no problem, there are a hundred others waiting in line behind you to join with a Heavy Hitter.

If you need any kind of coaching, mentoring, or training, most Heavy Hitters will never do that. They consider you “dead wood.” You’re in their way, and you need to be swept aside, in favor of someone who already knows what to do.

As we coach people to be successful, we focus on how you need to build a relationship with people. You can’t ask them to join your business before you have a real relationship with them. It will not work. And if you’re getting Question #3, then you are talking to people with whom you have NOT built a relationship.

If you’re not building a relationship with them, you got no chance. A friend would never choose some “Heavy Hitter” over you. If you’re having that problem, you need to learn the “Colors” technology and focus on making a friend first. That strategy works long-term, it’s easily taught, and it’s something anyone can do.
When you target the market and then talk to people who raise their hand, you will not get these kinds of questions.

Question #4: “I don’t have much money to drive around town looking for prospects. How can I conentrate my efforts to expose people to my MLM Business?”

The problem here is, your upline has got you driving around, trying to pounce on people and slam them into your business.

Network marketing is a relationship business. You should be target-marketing online. It doesn’t cost any gasoline money to do that. You need to

1. Target your ideal market.
2. Get the right people to raise their hand.
3. Build a relationship with them.
4. And when the timing is right for them to be in business, they will call you.

THIS is how success works. You cannot slam people into your MLM business and have any hope of long-term success. Period.

The best way to target market is to use the pro version of the Mentoring For Free system that we have devised. Many individuals are using this system to successfully build their own network marketing business.

If YOU have a question, just click here and I’ll be happy to answer it!
