I’ve been pretty much a student of Success and Self Help for longer than I care to admit. My first exposure to it was a tape program called Personal Power by Tony Robbins. I borrowed it from a friend. I believe the year was 1990, so wow, I guess I’ll just admit it. It’s been 20 years.
I now own practically all of TR’s stuff, along with shelves and shelves of books, tapes, and videos by the greats; Wallace Wattles, James Allen, Napoleon Hill, Claude M. Bristol, Og Mandino, David Schwartz, Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy and the list goes on and on.
In all the reading and studying I’ve done, the one thing that continually pops out and comes to the forefront is Gratitude. Being grateful for everything you have and everything you don’t yet have. Without gratitude, the universe will not open it’s wallet and give you what you seek. Because without gratitude, you’re not deserving of having it in the first place.
The more grateful we are when we receive good things, the more good things we will receive. It’s like a magnet. The Law of Gratitude works in harmony with the Law of Attraction. By being in a state of gratitude, you send out vibrations in a higher frequency to the Universe stating that you are more in tune with it. And the Universe will respond with more things to be grateful for. Also, being in a state of gratitude helps in strengthening your faith, because a grateful mind expects good things, and expectation becomes faith.
So here’s a little exercise that has helped me tremendously and will help you to add gratitude to your daily life.
Every morning, as you wake, ask yourself this question: What am I grateful for?
Start with yourself; I’m grateful for waking up this morning. I’m grateful for being me. I’m grateful for my eyes so I can see the beauty of the world. I’m grateful for my heart which beats without my direction. Things like that.
Then move away from yourself; I’m grateful for my spouse, my kids, my dog, my cat, my sisters, my brothers, my mom, my dad.
Continue in a circle outward, your friends, your community, your city, your state, your country, your world.
Really feel the feelings of gratitude, don’t just say the words, picture each item in your mind and feel it.
I’m telling you, when you’re finished you’ll be buzzing. It sets up your day with empowerment.
Then slowly add more and more times during the day when you think and feel that gratitude.
Be grateful for the things you don’t have yet, but feel the gratitude as if you have them now.
Be grateful for the hard times because hard times teach you to appreciate the good times, and are usually there as a lesson of some kind.
Be grateful, be grateful, be grateful. I can’t stress this enough. Once you live your life in an Attitude of Gratitude your life will change. You’ll open the door to abundance.
And abundance is good.

Hey David,
Thanks for reminding us to stop and smell the roses from time to time.
It is all to often, that we get caught up with life, and we forget to stop and appreciate all that we have!
What a beautiful way to start ones day!
Regards,
Sharon
Hey there Sharon, just think what a wonderful world we would live in if more people had that Attitude of Gratitude! I’m grateful just thinking about it.

Awww Sam! You’re too nice!
David,
I’m grateful for this post:)! In all seriousness, gratitude is the best thing you can do for attitude adjustment. It opens your mind and your heart in invaluable ways.
I spend alot of time in the car and often do my gratitudes there, in addition to first thing am and before I fall asleep. Even if it is just a few it can make all the difference in your state.
We will heva to exchange some tape programs:)!

Thank you. I never thought of it exactly that way. I always said I was grateful but reading this I am more grateful. Now I can say I am grateful for being introduced to you.
