The Ant Philosophy – Teachings From Jim Rohn

Category : Motivational, Persistance

The Ant Philosophy

Over the years, Jim Rohn taught kids about a simple but powerful concept: The Ant Philosophy. Quoting Jim “I think everybody should study ants. They have an amazing four-part philosophy.

Here is the first part: Ants never quit. That’s a good philosophy. If they’re headed somewhere and you try to stop them, they’ll look for another way. They’ll climb over. They’ll climb under. They’ll climb around. They keep looking for another way. What a neat philosophy—to never quit looking for a way to get where you’re supposed to go.

Second, ants think winter all summer. That’s an important perspective. You can’t be so naive as to think summer will last forever. So ants gather their winter food in the middle of summer.

An ancient story says, “Don’t build your house on the sand in the summer.” Why do we need that advice? Because it is important to think ahead. In the summer, you’ve got to think storm. You’ve got to think rocks as you enjoy the sand and sun.

The third part of the Ant Philosophy is that ants think summer all winter. That is so important. During the winter, ants remind themselves, “This won’t last long; we’ll soon be out of here.” And the first warm day, the ants are out. If it turns cold again, they’ll dive back down, but then they come out the first warm day. They can’t wait to get out.

And here’s the last part of the ant philosophy. How much will an ant gather during the summer to prepare for the winter? All he possibly can. What an incredible philosophy, the “all-you-possibly-can” philosophy.

The ant philosophy. Never give up, look ahead, stay positive and do all you can.

The Slight Edge Can Change Your Life

Category : Network Marketing, Persistance

If you’re not familiar with “The Slight Edge”, a book by Jeff Olson, I highly recommend that you get it, read it, study it.

It will change your life. It’s the book that ties all the other Success/Self Help books and audios together.

“If you learn to apply The Slight Edge, your life will become filled with hundreds of thousands of small, seemingly insignificant actions – all of them easy to do, none of them mysterious, complex or difficult. And those actions will create your success.” — author Jeff Olson, “The Slight Edge”

If you haven’t acheived the success you are looking for, give the Slight Edge a try. It’s always working, either for you or against you.

The Slight Edge Philosophy builds upon what we learned in my previous post about the power of one or the power of compounding. You can read about that here: The Power of One – It will set you FREE!.

By doing small daily actions in a positive direction each day, and each action builds upon one another and before you know it, your business and life are more successful.

I’d like to share an audio recording by my good friend Richard Dennis who talks about how the Slight Edge can help you.

Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

To Do Or Not To Do, That Is The Question

Category : Persistance

Have you ever had one of those days where you didn’t feel like building your business? Where you didn’t feel like making the calls? Didn’t feel like going out to talk to people? Didn’t feel like promoting, sharing, branding?

I’ve been there, we all have. But here’s why I bring it up. You need to stop it, because it’s one of the reasons you’re not succeeding as well as you could be.

You see, this little “secret” is why the big money makers in Network Marketing are successful. They don’t use the excuse of not feeling like it when it comes to doing the daily tasks to build their business. They just do it.

Remember the quote, Successful people do the things that unsuccessful people won’t.

The next time you don’t feel like it, just make yourself do it anyway. You’ll feel much better for doing it, and you’ll train yourself to continue to do it every day.

If you want success, you need to be willing to do the things you don’t want to do and do them consistently. It’s not rocket science here. It’s common sense.

Here’s a little exercise to do every day. In the morning, after you spend some time in Gratitude (see a previous article of mine on gratitude), ask yourself this question: What can I do today to move my business forward?

And here’s the key? DO IT! Thinking about it doesn’t accomplish anything. Just do it!

Then, at the end of your day, ask yourself this question: What did I do today to move my business forward?

If you have the same answer at the end of the day that you had at the beginning, you’ve had a successful day.

So what the heck are you waiting for? Go do the deed!!

In Network Marketing, The Marketing Will Build Your Empire

Category : 5 Pillars of Success, Persistance, Target Marketing

Most people believe that far and away THE #1 reason to choose a Network Marketing company is the product. And even after talking with them a bit, it is a very tough idea to dislodge.

Network Marketing companies must have a great product to compete in today’s market. But it is effective marketing, not a product, that will either build an empire or not. Specifically, you should be searching for a group with an effective, results-producing marketing program in place. So it’s important to give prospects as much evidence as you possibly can that product focus is not what will build them a great income from home.

To have any hope for building a successful Network Marketing business, they have to get this concept. If all they want is a great product, that’s fine. If they don’t care about the money, no problem. They can do whatever the heck they want to do.

But most people – and certainly most of the people your prospect will be talking to about the business – are looking to make money at it. And if you ask even this product-focused prospect, you can pretty much be 100% sure they’ll say, “Well, yeah – I want the money!”

And to do that, you’ve got to have those other 4 Pillars in place – not just the product. So page 14 of the Success in 10 Steps eBook is a very good place to point your prospect to, to make that point and get them headed in the right direction.

To build your own big income in Network Marketing, the people you sponsor will need a constant stream of hot prospects. I can help you do that for them, and for yourself. For details, call me at (215) 268-6696 or hit reply right now and send me your name, phone number, and the best time to call.

Managing Expectations

Category : Persistance

Let me start off by saying that I came into Network Marketing with very high expectations. My goals were pretty aggressive.

In order to know where I’m coming from here, I have to give you some history into my story.

You see, all my adult life I’ve been searching for something that was going to save me from the life of a worker bee. And I tried a lot of different things with pretty much no success. I had set a lot of goals, but never reached them. And the reason I never reached them was because I really didn’t put much effort into making them happen. So when the goal was unmet, I was disappointed, but not surprised. I really couldn’t blame anyone but me and my lack of effort.

I hit a turning point in my life last year. My oldest son who was just starting his working life and being out on his own, ran into some financial problems. And it made me mad. Not because he wasn’t managing his money well, but because he was living that life of complacently and lack that I’ve lived with my entire life. And I was mad because he wasn’t listening to me. All HIS life I tried to teach him how to stay out of the rat race and to think the right thoughts and do the right things. But it wasn’t happening, and I was like “Why isn’t he listening to me?”

Then I realized that he wasn’t listening to me because he had no frame of reference. I was telling him NOT to be like me. Not to do the things I was doing. Who’s going to listen to that? Especially a Twenty Something kid just starting his life?

So I decided that if I was going to be a role model to my own kids, I had better start doing the things I had been preaching to them their whole life. Because what I was doing wasn’t working, not for me and not for them.

So I finally broke down and asked for help from my friend Emmanuel Padilla. He was building a Network Marketing organization for awhile, but he never pushed me into it. I told him right from the start that Network Marketing wasn’t an option for me. I didn’t understand it, and had those “Pyramid Scheme” thoughts in my head. But I decided that since what I’d been doing for the last 25 years hadn’t worked, I’d do something different. I’d do everything different.

So I studied and learned all I could and joined a Network Marketing company. Being a green personality, it wasn’t easy at first. A small example of what I mean is, before all this started. I couldn’t pick up the phone to order a pizza. I would get into so many fights with my wife about that. She didn’t understand why I was so fearful of the phone. But since I decided to change everything, in less than a month I was making my own calls. Huge difference.

I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, and stopped doing the things that were comfortable for me. Like falling into that analysis paralysis that us green personalities fall into. I refrained from reinventing the wheel and just followed the system laid out for me. I stopped waiting until things were perfect and just went out and applied massive action to everything I did.

It worked great at first, but then I started getting a bit depressed because things weren’t happening as fast as I’d thought they should. Remember, I was used to not meeting my goals… So doubt started creeping in. I did a total shift from what I was doing, and I was getting the same results.

So I started asking myself disempowering questions. Was I doing enough? Was I doing something wrong? Was something missing? Does the system really work?

And I talked to all my mentors. Well I wouldn’t say talked, I more whined than anything else. Sorry Emmanuel.

After talking/whining to everyone and sitting down to evaluate and take a hard look at what was happening, I came to this realization: None of the successes in my life have ever been instant successes. And I can say with a good deal of certainty that this holds true for you too.

But.. when I looked back at the previous year, I can honestly say that I HAVE BEEN successful. I haven’t seen all the financial rewards I was expecting in the timeframe I was expecting them, but I’ve built a very solid foundation to work from. I’ve learned tons of new skills that I’m using every day to build that foundation, and I’ve done things and pushed myself beyond anything I would have ever imagined I could do. And now I can say that I’m on the verge of that explosion you hear about so often when everything clicks, and all the pieces fall into place.

One of my problems was that I used to measure myself by what another upline sponsor and mentor of mine, Marcello Lisi has done. He’s retired and has built a large successful team. You know, sometimes we set our expectations based on those who we want to be like, but we don’t take into consideration that success didn’t happen to them instantly either. We’re seeing the byproduct of all the hard work and time they’ve put into it. And in order to get that, we need to put the same amount of effort and duplicate what they did, and only THEN will we see the same kind of results.

The whole point I’m trying to make is that you can’t measure your success based on your expectations. Because to be honest, your expectations are nothing more than a prediction of what you THINK is going to happen in the future. And if you truly thought about it, and looked back on goals and expectations you’ve set and MET in the past, you’ll realize that 9 times out of 10, the path to that success was very different than how you thought it would go.

I believe the whole focus of a goal is that it’s not how fast you reach it, but that you do the things you need to do to actually reach it. If you do that, then you can’t help but be successful. Because the only way to fail is to quit. And I know if you’re taking the time read this, you want success, and you’re not a quitter.

So just stay focused and do those daily slight edge actions and success will be yours.

No matter how long it takes.

The Test – Will You Pass?

Category : Persistance

I want to talk today about what I call “The Test”.

Simply put, The Test is that roadblock that gets in the way of whatever it is we’re trying to be successful at. I’m sure a lot of you have gone through this, and if you haven’t, you will.

The Test will hit you so hard that you’ll begin to doubt if what you’re doing is worth it.

It could be a set back, or a major disappointment, or even something totally unrelated to your business.

But when it hits, Oh man, it makes you question everything.

A better way to describe it is: The Test is that thing that makes you come up with reasons to quit.

And we don’t realize it at the time, but that’s when we’re the closest to the success we seek.

You see, these tests are there to weed out the winners from the losers. Because most people will quit when it gets too hard. They become paralyzed and can’t move forward.

They begin asking debilitating questions like, Am I chasing a dream? Is this ever going to happen? or what’s wrong with me?

And since our brains are designed to answer all our questions based upon our state of mind at the time, It says “Of Course you’re chasing a dream”, “No it’s never going to happen” and “You’re a loser, that’s what’s wrong with you.”

So you get even more depressed and start that downward spiral to nowhere. Not good!

Can you tell I’ve been there a few times?

Well, in the past I’ve took the easy road and quit like many others do. And just recently I was hit with another test. And I seriously thought I was done. So I talked with my Mentors and as always, they gave me the answer.

So, wanna know what it is? How do you pass the test?

It’s simple. The Slight Edge. Consistent Daily Action. Action will un-paralyze you. Action will keep you focused. And by focusing on the Action, you start asking better questions. How can I make my dream a reality? How can I make this happen faster and better than I imagined? What is the one thing I can do today to move me closer to my goal?

You see how asking different questions can produce better answers?

By doing the daily actions, you’re telling the universe that this roadblock is not going to stop you. And the universe will open the way for you. That daily action will move you up the spiral, in the direction you need to go.

You know, if you model enough successful people, you will realize that their path to success was never without those roadblocks. And most of them were major roadblocks. But they kept at it and found success.

And by doing the same thing, you will too.

To Your Success!
