Would it be ok if I asked you some questions?
What value did you give today?
Was it value without an agenda?
Did you give it just for the sake of helping someone out?
I ask these questions because I was called out today by someone wondering what the hell I was doing.
As everybody knows, or at least I figure they know, I use Mentoring for Free as my “system” to generate leads online and to train people in Network Marketing. It’s a great tool and it’s worked well for me.
But, and it’s a huge but, I realize that it’s not the only system out there. There are quite a few top notch systems people use every day to help them get leads and to help others succeed.
Well, today I promoted a TeleSeminar by a mentor of mine who just so happens to NOT be in Mentoring for Free. Maybe you’ve heard of him. His name is John Milton Fogg. He’s written a few books on Network Marketing, most notably The Greatest Networker in the World (awesome book by the way).
Anyway, as I was saying, he held a TeleSeminar today with another awesome Network Marketer and Internet Guru Bob Yeager. (I’ll spare you the intro on Bob, just Google him and you’ll see what I mean.)
Well, this TeleSeminar was pretty awesome, and I’m so glad that I could share it with my Facebook Group and my downline, because Bob gave so much value.
Now of course there are reasons why people do TeleSeminars, it’s to offer that value, but yet ultimately to promote what they happen to offer. So of course, for Bob it was to promote his system of Mentorship, and John’s promotion was that hopefully if you gained value from this TeleSeminar, you’d opt to want to join in on more, at which he will provide them as long as you’re a member of his Charter Membership on his website.
So now we come to the person calling me out tonight. He said I was an idiot for doing what I did, because I just gave away all those potential leads to a competitor, because they might think that Bob’s system is better than mine.
WTF?? You see, right there is where I think a lot of people really have it totally wrong. That person has a mentality of Lack. A lot of us do. We think that we need to hoard everyone we meet and get them to follow our system before someone takes them away!
Well, I’m here to tell you that that way of thinking is going to KEEP you in the Lack Mentality. You have to understand that there is more than enough for us out there. The Universe is constantly providing. There is no lack of anything. I heard that there are 1000s of new users coming onto the internet every day. And with the way the economy is going, there are more Network Marketers out there than ever before in the history of Network Marketing. COMBINED!
So where is the lack? Where is the competition? I mean seriously, you have to be pretty close minded to think that there is one system that fits everyone. Not Mentoring for Free, not MLSP, not the 7 Figure Networker, not the Million Mind March, not Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring, etc.
Not one will fit all.
Each and every one of those systems are a personal choice. And you can blow smoke all you want, but the fact is, there isn’t one that is that much better than the others. They are all designed to help people market on the internet and generate leads.
And if you’re a actual mentor who has the best interest of whoever you meet, and truly are out for their success, you won’t think that your system is the only system for them. Because honestly, even though it’s the system they follow, they follow it because they trust YOU. It’s about you. If someone feels you’re not out for their best interest, I don’t care how great the system you use is, they will not follow you.
The whole point is to provide value and to help other Network Marketers succeed. If referring them to another system that would better suit their needs is what is best for them, then by all means do it. There will be others. There are enough out there. The Lack Mentality leads to desperation, and desperation leads to failure.
Once you figure that out, your life and career will surely get better.
